Aurigny CEO 'fully committed' 'to improving operational performance'

The CEO of Aurigny says they're fully committed to improving performance and customer confidence, following concerns raised about the airline's reliability.

It has faced heavy criticism following a host of cancellations and delays in the first two months of this year - there was also a protest at Alderney Airport in March against the airline.

A public meeting held today (27 May) bringing together Aurigny CEO Nico Bezuidenhout, CCO Philip Sanders, Skybus Managing Director Jonathan Hinkles, and Members of the States of Alderney.

Aurigny management said they 'express regret' for 'recent operational disruptions', but added that unprecedented bad weather and an unusually large number of Medevac services being needed contributed to difficulties.

The airline says it's working hard to strengthen resilience, underlined by the first Aurigny-dedicated aircraft arriving at the end of next month.

Mr Bezuidenhout said:

"Today’s discussions were both constructive and centred firmly on delivering the reliable and resilient air services that Alderney deserves.

"We recognise the importance of these lifeline connections to the island community and remain fully committed to improving operational performance and enhancing customer confidence."

States of Alderney Policy & Finance Chair, Jeannie Cameron, said:

"The meeting provided valuable assurance regarding the positive direction of travel and the commitment being demonstrated by both Aurigny and Skybus.

"Our collaborative relationship gives me confidence that meaningful improvements will be delivered for Alderney residents, businesses and visitors alike as we move forward."

The meeting also included talks over the upcoming winter schedule and the 'continued efficient operation' of Medevac services.
