New commemorative 50 pence coins celebrating pantomime classics are now in circulation in Guernsey.
The rare pieces, which are already attracting the interest of collectors, feature the pantomimes Cinderella, Aladdin, Dick Whittington, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Jack and the Beanstalk.
4,000 of each coin have been minted and delivered to local high street banks. It is the first set of commemorative coins in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Lee De Carteret, the States of Guernsey Central Services Director says: ‘It’s great to see these coins in circulation just ahead of the Christmas – and the pantomime – season. They will be rare, given there are more than three million Guernsey 50p coins already in circulation, so good luck to those hoping to pick one up. We’re really pleased to have been able to introduce a commemorative set like this for the first time, and we hope to follow it up with more.’
A special collector’s set of uncirculated coloured coins is also available to purchase for £325. Only 2,019 sets are available through the Westminster Collection at westminstercollection.com.
