Fledgling airline Air Alderney reaffirms its wish to start a new inter-islands service while talks are held between the States, Skybus and Aurigny.
Since Sunday's (22 March) mass demonstration at the perceived unreliability of Aldenrey's current air service, the issue has mushroomed.
Talks were held on Monday (24 March) between the States of Alderney, Aurigny and its partner Skybus and centred around service levels and disruption.
All agreed to improve communication and to lobby for commercial refuelling in Alderney.
Skybus says bringing one of the two grass runways back into operation would help its reliability in crosswinds, but that is not included in the £24M main runway refurbishment.
Pilot availability and training was also discussed.
Separately, fledgling airline Air Alderney has used its Facebook page to say that is wants to operate a commercial service between all three main Channel Islands and France.
It promises up to ten Islander aircraft, which used to operate the route in the 1970s, with one fitted out and kept in Alderney specifically for medical emergencies.
It also proposes constructing a new terminal building at its own expense and setting up a maintenance facility.
However, it says operating costs need to be reduced and it is asking for its own ground handling team, a negotiation on landing fees and its own space in the terminal building.
Air Alderney's founder and CEO, Danny Brem-Wilson, says he has put £4.5M into the project so far.
It has received a mainly positive reaction on social media.
Air Alderney previously showcased its aircraft and intention to set up a service in 2022.
