A new opt-in register for children with disabilities and their families is being set up by the States.
It’s planned to share information about services and support available in the island, but will also come with other perks like a membership card offering discounts and access to the front of the queue at some attractions.
The Max Card is already accepted across the UK, and local businesses are being asked to consider joining the scheme to help families make memories.
Kerry Coombes-Goodfellow, from the island’s Parent Carer Forum, hopes parents will find the information in the newsletter helpful:
“It will be brilliant for parents to be kept more informed of any events or activities that their children could take part in, so I would encourage as many parents as possible to join the register. We also hope lots of Jersey companies will sign up to the Max Card as this would be exceptionally beneficial to a lot of families in Jersey.”
Ten families who sign up to the register before Friday 16 November will be picked at random for a tour of the Fire Station in St Helier.
