Nineteen students and two teachers from Jersey College for Girls are self-isolating after returning from a school trip to Italy.
Advice has been updated today so that anyone coming back from the country self-quarantines even without symptoms of coronavirus.
The school trip was to the town of Lucca, in Tuscany.
None of the JCG party has developed any symptoms, and the island's Deputy Medical Officer of Health says it's unlikely that anyone has been put at risk since the trip returned as COVID-19 takes around five days to incubate:
“This is a precautionary measure and goes beyond the advice issued by Public Health England. All the students and teachers who travelled to Lucca are well, and anyone who has already mixed with them remains safe. The families of the affected students do not need to self-isolate and there is no need to deep-clean the school. It is only the people who went to Italy who are being asked to take any action.”

Coronavirus symptoms are similar to that of the flu - a combination of a cough, fever and aching muscles. If you've had any symptoms, even if you haven't travelled abroad, we're being told to self-isolate until they clear up (for a minimum of seven days).
Anyone who has come into contact with a person confirmed to have the coronavirus should stay in self-isolation for at least 14 days.
