A unique three digit number plate, well-suited to a police response car perhaps, has sold at auction in Jersey.
J999 was listed for sale at Simon Drieu auction house in St Lawrence today (3 June).
It was Lot 1 or almost 500, and eager bidders were quick to try to get their hands on it.
The registration plate had a guide price of £40,000 - £45,000.
It was assigned to an old, non-running motorbike.
The number plate sold for £39,500.
It was one of three vehicle registrations in the sale, with J1791 fetching £7,000 and J8136 selling for £3,100.
The most expensive plate in Jersey is still believed to be J4, which went for £380,000 in 2020, followed by J5 at £350,000, and J69 which fetched £230,000 in June 2025.
