Jersey Dairy urgently recalls two products

Some unsalted butter and milk batches have been found to contain a chemical not fit for consumption.

Some batches of 1 litre green milk (2.5% Fat Reduced Milk) with a use-by date of 23 March, and 250 mg Unsalted Butter with a best-before date of 8 June have been recalled.

We're told the majority of these two products have been detained, but some were supplied to customers yesterday (Wednesday 11 March) and today (Thursday 12 March).

Jersey Dairy thanks retailers for their cooperation in removing these products from sale and use with immediate effect.

It says the level of contamination is very small, estimated at 1 parts per million.

The dairy says there have been no reports of illness at these levels, so this recall is a precautionary measure.

Other Jersey Dairy products are unaffected.

The dairy says it has been working closely with the Environmental Health Department and Public Health Department, and offers sincere apologies to all customers for the inconvenience caused.
