Jersey's 91st Bailiff, Mr Robert MacRae, has been sworn in following a special ceremony.
In a ceremony in the Royal Court this morning, our new Bailiff pledged to uphold Jersey's laws and privileges.
The King approved the appointment of Mr MacRae when Sir Timothy Le Cocq announced his retirement.
His deputy will be Jersey's Attorney General, Mark Temple KC, who will assume the position in early 2026.
Mr Temple has been the island's top prosecutor since 2020, but before that spent five years as HM Solicitor General.
He says it is a great honour to have the opportunity to serve the Island as Deputy Bailiff of Jersey.
"I look forward to supporting the work of the Bailiff and the Bailiff’s Chambers, to working with the Jurats of the Royal Court, States Members, and the Judicial and States Greffe.
"I am conscious of the high standards set by my predecessors, which I will endeavour to uphold."
