The Jersey Lifeboat Association is hoping to become operational by Christmas.
The former St Helier Crew has been conducting tests with its new vessel, the Sir Max Aitken III.
The JLA was launched after a long-running dispute between the former crew and RNLI.
An independent report criticised both parties for the relationship breakdown.
After the launch of a fundraising campaign, the JLA's vessel was brought to the island from Great Yarmouth.
Chairman Ben Shenton says the boat has been updated to modern standards and that he's 'fairly confident' of getting up and running within weeks.
