Missing moggy survives Storm Goretti and returns home after five weeks

Islanders invested in Milo's story have been given a happy ending, with his owners 'over the moon' that he is back home.

Karen has been trying to find Milo since 9 December 2025, when he managed to escape from his carrier in the JSPCA's carpark, while she was dropping him off at the kennels.

The Animals' Shelter tried to help in the search by setting out traps. However, Milo had other ideas.

His owner and her sister posted on social media, with islanders trying to come to their aid.

She says she was terrified because Milo was away from home through cold weather and during Storm Goretti, which brought winds of 95 miles per hour to the island.

"We tried everything. We posted on Facebook, we followed leads of every black and white cat everywhere in the island, from the Esplanade to Almorah (Crescent).

"In my heart, I was convinced he was in the Five Oaks area."

Karen says Milo made his way all the way back home, despite not finding reports of a single sighting of him on social media.

"He must've ventured up Wellington Hill, across the road and over to the estate.

"We don't know where he's been for those five weeks because we've not had a single positive sighting of him until Julie phoned me and he was in her garden."

She joked that he's on house arrest now until the rest of the week.

"He's been sleeping and eating, he's a little on the quiet side.  He hasn't been allowed out yet."
