Jersey's running community is pulling together to pay for a heart-starting machine at a popular spot for joggers.
Several clubs have organised a 5k run this evening (20 September), with everyone taking part making a £10 donation to the Jersey Heart Support Group.
Rock N Road Runners, Jersey Run Club, The Wolfpack, Jersey Spartan Athletic Club, and Trail Monkey Jersey have joined forces with BNP Paribas for the Heart to Heart 5k.
It starts at 6.30pm, and ever finisher will received a medal.
The event is aiming to collect £2,000 to put a defibrillator on the Waterfront, outside the Radisson Blu hotel.
Rik De Louche, Chairman of the Rock N Road Runners, said:
“Jersey is blessed with a number of running groups, many of who use the waterfront area outside of the Radisson on a regular basis.
"As a club, Rock N Road Runners, has had up to 75 people for a training session so it shows just how important this piece of equipment could be.
“It really shows the power of the local community that we can put on an event like this and have the support of a whole community to make a difference.”
JHSG, a charity that helps to supply vital cardiac equipment to the Heart Team at the General Hospital, will use the money to buy an Automated External Defibrillator.
