St Mary's School has been officially reopened after being refurbished and extended.
Lieutenant Governor Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton did the honours at the primary school.
The three listed buildings that make up the school have been linked together.
Improvements have been made to ensure the classrooms are bigger.
The school will also have a nursery class for the first time from September 2022.
Children's Minister Deputy Scott Wickenden and new director general Rob sainsbury met some of the pupils.
The Lieutenant Governor praised the refurbishment saying that the works melded well with the old buildings and described the school as a 'great facility'.
